Mary Annetta “Ann” Heimrich
Ann passed away peacefully and as gently as she lived her life on April 15, 2018 at Spruce Lodge surrounded by the love of her family. She is survived by her husband of 63 years Don; son Jamie; daughters Joan Flanagan (Mark) and Carol Cooley (Boyd); grandchildren Amanda Kitchen (Bill) and Shawn Flanagan; great-grandson Jack. She is the beloved big sister to Eleanor Lucas (Ivan). Aunt Nettie to many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her brother Jack McKercher and his wife Betty and her great-grandson Daniel.
Ann grew up in Watford, Ontario daughter of Arthur and Mary McKercher. As a young woman she moved to London and worked in a tax office. On weekends she and her girlfriends would travel to Stratford to watch the Stratford Indians and to go skating at the Allman Arena. It was during this time that she met the love of her life, Don. Together Ann and Don raised their children while working side by side at their business Heimrich Drapery. Ann had fond memories of her trip to New York to the World Series in 1951 to see the Yankees and the Giants. She was an avid bowler, loved to sew, enjoyed knitting and spending sunny days at Brindley’s Beach. Ann was a kind and gentle wife, mother and grandmother. Family was her life and she will be greatly missed by all. Most recently her great-grandson Jack brought her such joy always commenting “that’s my smiling baby”. The family would like to thank the staff at Wildwood Care and Spruce Lodge for kind and compassionate care.
