Lorne McLeod passed away peacefully after a short battle with cancer, in Stratford on Sunday, July 2, 2017, at the age of 81. Lorne is survived by his friend and former partner, Mary McLeod; daughter Kari McLeod (Rick Lusk) of Victoria, BC; son Greg McLeod, grandchildren Spencer, Ruby and Nora of Stratford and sister Joyce (Dennis) Sky of Victoria, BC. Also left to cherish his memory are many dear family members and friends. Lorne was predeceased by his father Donald McLeod, mother Muriel Cutting and brother Earl McLeod. Lorne was born in Erin, Ontario, in 1935, and enjoyed a rural up-bringing in Belfountain, Ontario, before spending most of his adult life in the neighbouring town of Cheltenham. After high school, he worked for his Uncle Barney, enjoying a short career as a carpenter which enabled him to build many homes in the area, including two for his family! In 1956, Lorne went to work for Bell, where he enjoyed a 35 year career as a Lineman, Installer and Foreman. In 2015, Lorne relocated to Stratford to be closer to his son and grandchildren. Settling into his new life, he loved his daily ritual of buying a McDonald’s coffee, reading the newspaper and completing the Sudoku puzzle. He had a passion for the stock market and all things business, following current events closely right up until his passing. All who knew Lorne loved him and the medical professionals who supported him, adored him. The family extends a heartfelt thank you to Lorne’s medical support team, including Dr Anstett, Dr. Lefebvre, Dr. Smith, Dr. Hussey, Dr. Caine, the Stratford General Hospital staff, the Local Health Integration Network team, the Care Partners Team, staff at the Cedar Croft Retirement Home and special thanks to Natalie Espinet and her extended family.
