Douglas Ronald Stewart, age 79, of Stratford, passed away on Monday, September 11, 2017 at Stratford General Hospital. Born in Stratford, son of the late Louis and Laura (Delooze) Stewart. Survived by his best friend and true love of 58 years Lynette (McNaughton) Stewart. Proud father of Derek (Diana) Stewart, Krista McIntosh (Randy Fryfogel) and Melissa McNaughton (Shawn). Grandfather of Marissa (Robin), Brittney, James (Mandi), Whitney (Evan), Kylee (Josh), Kara (Duane), Leah (Liz), Mitch (Heather), Joel and nine great-grandchildren. Doug will be remembered by his sister Gail Bell and husband Keith, Marilyn Harse and husband Ab and his brother-in-law Doug McNaughton (Diane). Doug was very active in his community; he was Past Master of Stratford Masonic Lodge #332 P.Z. Tecumseh Chapter #24, Past Preceptor of St. Almo Preceptory and a member of Stratford-On-Avon Shrine Club, Past First-Vice of Stratford Legion Branch 8 and a long-time member of St Paul’s Anglican Church. Doug took great pride in participating in the Annual Beard Growers Contest every year in Stratford. The family would like to sincerely thank the wonderful nurses and doctors at Stratford General Hospital and LHSC-Victoria Hospital for the outstanding care given to Doug. Family and friends are invited to a celebration of Doug’s life on Saturday, September 23, 2017 from 2-4 p.m. at the W. G. Young Funeral Home RECEPTION CENTRE, 430 Huron Street, Stratford. The Stratford Masonic Lodge #332 will hold a Memorial Service at 1:30 p.m. and the Stratford Legion Branch #8 will hold a Memorial Service at 1:45 p.m. Doug has bequeathed his body to The University of Waterloo School of Anatomy.
