Rick Illingworth

Rick Illingworth
In the early hours of Thursday, October 5, 2017, Richard Charles Illingworth, beloved father and grandfather, passed away at the age of 68.

Rick will be forever celebrated by his children, Kyla, Buffy (Greg) and Colter (Kanya) and by his precious grandchildren, River, Roma, Charlie and Thomas. Rick was an incredibly passionate man who took great pride in his family. His children and grandchildren could do no wrong. He was always amazed by everyone’s accomplishments no matter how small. His love for his family ran deeply and unconditionally.

Rick was a talented artist and craftsman. Although he dedicated his professional career to house painting, he poured his soul into his creations. His living space was meticulously and beautifully adorned by his many styles of art and influence. Upon entering his space, you would find an amazing collection of his handcrafted walking staffs. You would then discover large canvas paintings and handmade wind instruments such as Japanese style shakuhachi flutes and didgeridoos. It was also quite common to find an elegantly designed piece of jewellery atop a personalized refurbished side table or desk.  He also had a great passion for herbal medicine and spent a great deal of his life recreating and brewing these timeless remedies. He named them R. Illingworths’ Old World Liniments & Salves.

Rick was connected to nature and had a special bond with horses. He was a peaceful man, gentle and kind and always had a word for the wise. He hugged you hard.  Rick was as strong as a horse and built for a storm.

A celebration of Rick’s life will be held on Sunday, October 15, from 2-5 pm at Edison’s Café Bar, 46 Ontario St., Stratford. Funeral arrangements entrusted to the W.G. Young Funeral Home, 430 Huron Street, Stratford. 519.271.7411 www.wgyoungfuneralhome.com
