Mary Bannerman, age 88, of Cedarcroft Place, Stratford passed away peacefully at the Stratford General Hospital on Thursday December 19, 2013. Born in Stratford, daughter of the late Arthur and Florrie (France) Jeffries. Mary was a member of Knox Presbyterian Church. She was active in the daily life at Cedarcroft Place and enjoyed playing Bingo and participating in the “Senior Buddies” when the young children visited. Beloved wife of 60 years to the late Robert James Bannerman whom she married at Knox Presbyterian Church on March 10, 1945 and who predeceased her on December 18, 2004. Loving mother of Stephen Bannerman (Carlo) of Cambridge, Kirk Bannerman of Stratford and Gail Bannerman (Dru) of Calgary. Cherished grandmother of Melanie, Robert (Kris) and Sean. Great grandmother of Nash and Clark Bannerman. Also survived by many nieces, nephews and their families.
Mary is the last surviving member of her family having been predeceased by her brothers Arthur, Clifford and Jack, sisters Florence, Phyllis, Daisy, Lillian, Doris, Violet and Eleanor. Friends and relatives may call at the W.G. Young Funeral Home, 430 Huron St., Stratford on Sunday December 22nd from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. The funeral service will be held at the Funeral Home on Monday December 23rd at 2 p.m. Reception to follow. Rev. Mark Gedcke will officiate. Interment will be in Avondale Cemetery at a later date.
