Myrtle Adeleen Steckly, age 81, of Stratford passed away peacefully at University Hospital, London on January 9, 2014. Myrtle was born in Logan Township, February 25, 1932, daughter of the late Edward and Mary Brodhagen. Beloved wife of the late Allen Gerald Steckly who predeceased her in 1991. Loving mother of Marjorie Burnett (Robert), Robert Steckly, David Steckly (Marilyn), Sherry Warren (Brian), June Nicholson (Vern). Grandmother of Jade Burnett (Kim), Chad Burnett (Denise), Jolene Krueger (Jim), Jeannie Brown (Richard), Peggy Steckly-Steinacker (James), David Steckly Jr. , Amber Nicholson, Blake Nicholson, Drew Warren, Tyler Warren and Ange Steckly (Mike). Great grandmother of Cody Christie, Indy, Alicia, Aaron, Sara, Chantel, Jade, Brooke, Bryanne, Dominic, Deon, Draden, Keira, Avery and Kaelyn. Dear sister of Jack Brodhagen (Lorene), Donna Mikels, Judy Jepson (Tom). Also survived by a brothers-in-law Don Fraser, Bill Knott, Ervin Steckly, by sisters-in-law Gwen Steckly, Anne Steckly, Joan Brodhagen and several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents and husband she was predeceased by brothers Earl, Lorne, Bernard and Lloyd, by sisters Linda Massey, Marlene Fraser, Betty Knott and by a brother-in-law Roy Mickels. Myrtle worked at Canadian Fabricated Products for 25 years until her retirement and was a member of the Army, Navy, Air Force Ladies Auxiliary, Unit 261, Stratford. Friends and relatives may call at the W.G. Young Funeral Home, 430 Huron Street, Stratford on Tuesday, January 14, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. The funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday at 11 a.m. with Rev. William Kramer officiating. Burial in Avondale Cemetery. As expressions of sympathy, memorial donations may be made to the Stratford General Hospital, Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Diabetes Association through the funeral home.
