After a long and satisfying life, Evelyn Pearl Thornton, age 87, of Grand Bend and formerly of Sebringville, passed away peacefully on Saturday February 22, 2014.
Born in Stratford, daughter of the late Richard and Pearl (Litt) Keena. Beloved wife of Erle Thornton whom she married on June 10, 1950. Loving mother of Pauline Thornton (Dana Kennedy) and Diane Thornton (Francis Caza). Cherished grandmother of Charlotte and Julian Caza. Dear sister of Doug Keena (Frances). Also remembered by nephew Kirby and niece Kim. Evelyn faithfully supported her church communities: the Evangelical United Brethren Church and the United Churches of Sebringville and Grand Bend. For over fifty years, she was an active member of the Women’s Institute. Friends and relatives may call at the W.G. Young Funeral Home, 430 Huron St., Stratford on Tuesday February 25th from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. The funeral service will be held at the Funeral Home on Wednesday February 26th at 11 a.m. Reception to follow. Rev. Tom Beecroft will officiate. Spring interment will be in Sebringville Cemetery.
