Mollie Chadsey, On February 21, 2014 in Mitchell, Ontario at the age of 97. The oldest daughter of Valentine and Jenny Thompson, she was predeceased by her husband Philip and survived by her sons Guy (Alison) and Tim (Biddy), granddaughters Anna and Kate, sister Nan and nephew Andrew. Born in 1916 in Clitheroe, Lancashire, England, Mollie attended the University of London, obtaining a BSc in Economics in 1937. During WW II she was an officer in the Royal Air Force, served at RAF Medenham in photographic intelligence and was a founding member of the Medenham Club. She met her husband, Philip, who was in the Canadian Army and moved to Toronto in 1946. Active in the YWCA of Canada for 25 years, she served as President from 1969 to 1973 as well as Vice-President of the World YWCA in Geneva. An avid collector of early English porcelain and 17th and 18th century cookbooks, Mollie was a regular at the Oxford Symposium on Food and Cookery in England. After 1974, she and Philip divided their year between Henley-on-Thames in England and Toronto, traveling extensively. Following her husband’s death in 1985, Mollie moved to Victoria in 1992 and then to Mitchell in 2005. The family would like to thank all the nurses, PSW’s and staff at Ritz Lutheran Villa in Mitchell for their care and compassion for the past nine years. Mollie will be interred with her husband in Wellington, Prince Edward County in a family service.
