Hilda “Toots” May Hyde, passed away at Home on Sunday May 18, 2014 at the age of 93. Born in Stratford, daughter of the late Cook “Ted” and Ada Lightfoot and step-mother Ethel Lightfoot. Hilda played crib with the Ladies Crib League and had been an avid golfer and dart player. She was a long standing member of the Legion Ladies Auxiliary, Br. 8, Stratford. Beloved wife of the late Harold “Pop” Hyde whom she married on May 14, 1949 and who predeceased her on November 1, 2003.
Loving mother of Corrine Hyde, Pat “Trish” Oliver (Ted), Ray Hyde (Bev), Ted Hyde (Janice). Cherished grandmother of Shannon (Mike), Mandy (Graham), Dawn (Gary), Philip, Matt (Crystal), Colin and Caitlin and 6 Great grandchildren. Also survived by a brother Alan Lightfoot and Hilda’s best friend Ethel Murray. Hilda was predeceased by brothers Roy Lightfoot (Doris) and Jack Lightfoot (Audrey), sister Jean Baker (Ken). Friends and relatives may call at the W.G. Young Funeral Home, 430 Huron St., Stratford on Thursday May 22nd from 7-9 p.m. and on Friday May 23rd from 10 a.m. until the time of the memorial service at 11 a.m. Reception to follow. Family burial will take place at St. James God’s Holy Acre.
Legion Ladies Auxiliary will hold a service Thursday at 6:45 p.m.
