William Ronald (Ron) Sandham age 79, of Stratford, passed away suddenly on Saturday, June 14, 2014. He was born in Tillsonburg, son of the late Edward W. Sandham and the former Isabel Nixon. Ron began his employment at the A & P Chain as a stock boy and worked his way up to being a Manager in his 54 years with A & P. For the past 20 years Ron and his family owned and operated the Erie Drive In on Erie Street. He was very involved in sports in Stratford, and was on the executive of the Stratford Hillers for many years. Ron was an active member of St. Johns United Church. He was a member of Mercer Wilson Masonic Lodge #678 AF & AM, Woodstock and the Scottish Rite. Ron also was an active member of the Stratford On Avon Shrine Club for over 55 years and the Mocha Shrine in London. Ron is the beloved husband of Bernice (Wilson), whom he married October 22, 1971. Loving father of Doug Cooke (Kim), Debra Cooke. Dear grandfather of Travis Cooke (Melissa), Candis Leyser (Scott). Cherished great grandfather of Ethan, Kayden, and Jackson Cooke. Brother of George Sandham (Dona). Lovingly remembered by several brothers in law and sisters in law and nieces and nephews. Besides his parents he was predeceased by sisters Alma Hodge (Jack), Norma Lefevre (George). Friends and relatives may call at the W. G. Young Funeral Home, 430 Huron Street, Stratford on Wednesday, June 18 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. On Thursday at St. Johns United Church, 175 Waterloo Street, Stratford the Masonic Lodge will hold a memorial service at 10:45 a.m. followed by the funeral service at 11 a.m. Rev. Michelle Down will officiate.
