Catherine (Kate) Burdett-Hough – Kate Hough age 65 of Grand Bend and formerly of Stratford, passed away in London July 17, 2014 following a tragic accident. Our gentle and beloved Katie has now joined her special Angels Nikie and Juddy (predeceased in 1979). Loving daughter of Betty (Freeman) Burdett and the late Erle Burdett (2013). Survived by her best friend and husband Dr. Bruce Hough whom she first married on August 23, 1969. Kate will be remembered lovingly by her shared children, Jordan and Lauren Hough. Survived by her adored brother Gerry Burdett of Stratford and her nephew Scott (Annie) Burdett. Sister-in-law Susan Trumper and her family will cherish many memories of Katie. Sorely missed by many friends, but especially Bonnie (Hood) Fiebig and Donna Frim. Kate was a vibrant woman with so many talents: cheerleader extraordinaire at Western University, choreographer and dancer, avid golfer and bridge player. After obtaining her degree at Western, she taught secondary school in London for several years. Many have been touched by her kindness, compassion and empathy. One of Kate’s greatest life accomplishments was her ability to turn a negative into a positive, evidenced by her receiving an M.S.W. degree from Wilfred Laurier University later in life, leading to the establishment of her private counselling practice and directorship in Bereaved Families of Ontario. She was accomplished motivational speaker and volunteered on several non-profit Boards. A celebration of Life will take place on Aug 23, 2014 in Kate’s Garden, 15 Summit Ave in Grand Bend from 2:00 p.m.-5:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers and as expressions of sympathy memorial donations may be made to the Grand Bend and Area Health Services Foundation through the W. G. Young Funeral Home 430 Huron Street., Stratford. ON. 519-271-7411 www.wgyoungfuneralhome.com
