Fiona Wilkie passed away peacefully at her home, Iona Cottage, on Thursday, August 28, 2014, with family at her side. Fiona was born in Rutherglen, Scotland, daughter of the late Peter Bishop Turner and the former Catrina MacDonald. Fiona came to Canada in 1957 and taught at the Mitchell High School until 1959 when she married and moved to Stratford. Her teaching career included many schools in Stratford and surrounding area. After retiring from her teaching career she was an active volunteer with the Stratford and Area Association for Community Living and the Friends of the Festival. Fiona was predeceased by her husband Wallace Eric Wilkie August 2, 1975. She is the beloved mother of John Wilkie (deceased), Janice Dunphy (Bill), Marion Garratt (Steve), Fiona Wright, Peter Wilkie (Sue). Loving grandmother of Katelyn, Kyle, Turner, David, Chris and Joe. Dear great grandmother of Emily, Jesse and Brayden. Also surviving is a sister Morag Gatherer and several cousins in Scotland and many friends here and abroad. At Fiona’s request, services will be for family and burial will be in Avondale Cemetery.
