Lydia Steckly, age 89, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family at Hillside Manor, on Tuesday January 6, 2015. Born in Elma Township, daughter of the late Christian and Barbara (Roth) Steckly. Besides her parents, Lydia was predeceased by her brother Laverne Steckly, sisters Tina Steckly and Laureen Walters and brother-in-law Howard Walters. Lydia is survived by her loving daughter Vera and Dan Wakutz of Kitchener. Proud grandmother to Dylan Wakutz. She will be sadly missed by her brothers Clarence Steckly of Hillside Manor and John and Mary Ellen Steckly of Wellesley. She is lovingly remembered by her nephew and nieces; Darlene, Douglas, Howard, Carol, James, Becky, Peter, Anthony, Sheri, Martha, Michael, Mary and Mark. She is also remembered by her community L’Arche family. The family would like to thank Hillside Manor for the wonderful care and compassion given to Lydia. Friends and family are invited to the Avon Mennonite Church, 90 Greenwood Court, Stratford on Saturday, January 10, 2015 from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the Funeral Service at 11:00 a.m. Interment to follow in Avondale Cemetery.
