Elizabeth Mary Van Gaal, age 70, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on March 19, 2015. She was born in Holland, December 29, 1944 daughter of the late John and Petronella Van Moorsel. Beloved wife of John Van Gaal whom she married in Kinkora June 12, 1965. Loving mother of Brenda Vanderham, Lynda Poredos (Rick), Mark Van Gaal (Christine). Grandmother of Matthew and Michael Vanderham, Richard, Jarrin and Erika Poredos. Dear sister of Nelda Dwyer, Helen Wardle, Al Van Moorsel (Ricky), Harry Van Moorsel (Helen), Arnold Van Moorsel (Josie), Rita DeWys (John), John Van Moorsel (Ricky), Toni Van Bommel (Harry), Bill Van Moorsel (Tina). Also surviving are John’s siblings, Jack Van Gaal (Mary), Annie Van Lieshout, Gerry Van Gaal (Betty), Wilma Ver Voort (Guy), Grad Van Gaal (Annie), Jean Van den Hengel, Mary Van Geel, Irma Sleegers (Bill). Also survived by cousins Anne and Arnold Van de Ven, dear friend Fred Illman and many nieces, nephews and their families. Liz and her husband John owned and operated Stratford Garden Centre for 35 years. She was a member of St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church, Stratford. Friends and relatives may call at the W.G. Young Funeral Home, 430 Huron Street, Stratford on Sunday, March 22, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. The funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church, 96 Huron Street, Stratford on Monday at 11 a.m. Fr. Dick Bester – Celebrant. Interment at St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Kinkora followed by a reception in the Kinkora Community Centre.
