Noel Jozeph Leonard deWever, age 83, of Stratford passed away peacefully at the Stratford General Hospital on Wednesday, September 16, 2015. Noel was predeceased by his wife Helen, who passed away in May of 2008. Noel was born in Maastricht, The Netherlands. Noel came to Canada in September of 1950 to work on a farm in the Uxbridge area. He later migrated to Toronto where he started work at the Robert Simpson Company before moving on to work as a clerk for the Township of North York, now part of the City of Toronto, for almost 30 years before retiring in the spring of 1987. That same spring, Noel and Helen moved to Owen Sound where they lived for a number of years before settling in their final years in Stratford. Noel lived at Anne Hathaway Residence for the last seven years, where he was well looked after and loved. Noel is the loving father of Robert (Marian) deWever, Ruth (Peter) Teeninga, John (Frances) deWever. Cherished grandfather of Emma, Maklane, Tina (James), Anna (Nick), Pieter, Luke (Jane Ann), Grace, Jesse and Jordan. Great grandfather of Calla and Theo. Noel is also survived by his sisters Josta Roebroeck and Mimi Kerkkamp and his brother Dolf Heideman. Noel was predeceased by his sister Clare, and sons David and Paul. Friends and relatives may gather at Knox Presbyterian Church, 142 Ontario St., Stratford, on Tuesday, September 22, 2015 from 10 a.m. until the Memorial Service at 11 a.m. A reception will follow in the Parish Hall. As expressions of sympathy, memorial donations may be made to The Stratford General Hospital Foundation or Rotary Club of Stratford, Stratford/Perth Hospice Project through the W.G.
