
Violet “Billie” Rebecca Corke passed away peacefully at Greenwood Court, Stratford on October 13, 2015 in her 100th year. She was born in London, England, daughter of the late Albert and Rebecca Gillett. Beloved wife of the late Alan Murnane Corke. Loving mother of Ian Corke (Darlene), Leslie Lamb (David) and predeceased by daughter Linda Brown (James). Nana of Greg Brown (Tracey), Kerry Yeck (Aaron), Matthew Corke, Lindsay Corke, Jarrett Corke (Madelaine), Rebecca Lamb, Meaghan Kennedy (Luke), Jennifer Lamb, Colin Lamb (Samantha). Great grandmother of Zachary, Rhylin, Morgan, Nathan, Joel and Elliott. Billie was predeceased by brothers Bob and Ted Gillett, and sisters Rose Wilson, Maisie Gaskin and Lilian Gillett. Billie served with the Women’s Auxiliary Air Force before coming to Canada as a war bride in 1946. She worked for the Department of Veterans Affairs and Canada Post. She was a member of St. James Anglican Church, Stratford and prided herself on her 25 years as a cub leader. Billie’s passions were her family, traveling, reading and music. Friends and relatives may call at the Greenwood Court Chapel, 90 Greenwood Drive, Stratford on Sunday, October 18, from 1 p.m. until the time of the funeral service at 2 p.m. Private interment at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens, London. As expressions of sympathy, memorial donations may be made to the Terry Fox Foundation.
