Oren Brown Price, age 98, passed away peacefully with family by his side at the Stratford General Hospital on November 14, 2015. He was born in Pembroke Township, Renfrew County, June 25, 1917, son of the late Dalton and Elizabeth Price. Beloved husband for 69 years of Mabel (Hyde). Loving father of Donna Zehr (Dayle), Marjorie Meadows (Allan), Deb McArdle (Jamie), Dave Price (Mary Beth). Grandfather of Dana Irvine (James), Deanna Campbell (Michael), Jason Zehr (Trish), Jenny Meadows (Blake), Bradley Meadows (Josiane), Brent Meadows (Caity), Katie Whetung (Ryan) and Stacy McArdle. Great grandfather of 12 great grandchildren. Dear brother of Clayton Price, Eric Price (Pat), Enid Krushensky, Ruth Williams (Nick). Also survived by a sister-in-law Pat Price and several nieces and nephews and their families. Besides his parents, Oren was predeceased by brothers Gordon, John, Ralph (Marion), Vernon (Vera), William (Iris) and Frederick (Fern), by a sister Eleanor Mathieu and by a sister-in-law Mae Price. Oren served overseas with the Royal Canadian Army, 13th Field Artillery during WWII. He was given a job at the CNR Shops in 1943 to pitch for the Stratford Nationals. He retired in 1979 as a Conductor/Brakeman with CNR. After retirement, along with being an avid fisherman, he became a professional arm chair manager for his beloved Blue Jays (but he was a closet Yankee fan). He was a member of the Army, Navy, Air Force Veterans, Unit 261 and the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 8, Stratford. The family would like to thank “his bestie” Stacy (granddaughter) and the staff of Cedarcroft Place for their care of Oren. They learned very quickly that his bark was worse than his bite.
