Emerson Gregory, in his 91st year, formerly of 225 Brydges St., Stratford where he lived from 1956-2013, passed away peacefully at Cedar Croft Place (Stratford) on Wednesday, December 2, 2015. Born in Drayton, August 5, 1925, son of the late William and Cora (Howard) Gregory, Emerson was raised on his parents farm on the 10th Line of Wallace, Palmerston, ON. Beloved husband of the late Isabel (Fleming) Gregory whom he married in Stratford on April 2, 1949 and predeceased him on January 27, 2011. Emersons mother was from Oto, Iowa, USA, his grandparents were Joshua and Jean (Brash) Gregory of Rothsay, ON. Emerson served his country in WWII from 1943 to 1945, where he received a severe shrapnel wound to his right leg. Emerson worked at Spruce lodge as a custodian from 1961-1983 and retired after 22yrs. He was a member of the Stratford Legion Branch #8 for 46 yrs. Survived by his children Susan (Bruce) Mantle of Gadshill, Linda (Dave) Knight of Stratford, Michael Gregory of Stratford, Joann Hunt of Stratford, Cindy Salisbury of Stratford and Tom Gregory of Stratford. Grandfather to Mike Knight, Robbie Atkinson, Barry Mantle, Coby Johnson, Andrea Thring, Jeremy Knight, Kamie Mantle, Sandra Salisbury-Patterson, Julie OKrafka, Nicole Gregory and Steven Salisbury. Great grandfather to Wyatt Mantle, Chloe and Garrett OKrafka, Krystal, Dakota and Dalyce Knight, Nathan and Cody Little, Zoe Johnson, Paydon and Emma Thring, Hayley Gregory, Donavan and Alexia Seipman and Kai Pitcher. Great-great-grandfather to Katana, Lily, Journey, Kable and Sofia Knight, Simon Little and Ryan Thring. Survived by a sister Genevieve Corbett, brother Harold (Rita) Gregory, brother-in-law Roy (Ruth) Priebe and sisters-in-law Gertrude Lawson of Woodstock, Helen (Dan) Shearon of Ingersoll, Pat Chapman of London, Joan Bettridge of London, Leona Fleming of Stratford and brother-in-law Ron Archer and family, also Maryanne Buehlow of Walkerton, Orville (Elsie) Evans of Lucan and Steve Bohms and family of Stratford. Besides his parents, grandparents and wife, Emerson was predeceased by sisters, Thelma, Alma, Beatrice, Violet and Ruth along with brothers, Stanley, Ken, Jack, Robert, Eldon and Ross along with sisters-in-law Sylvia (Don) Hunt of Stratford and Marie Archer. Special thanks to Jessica and the girls from Cedar Croft Place for taking such good care of Emerson in his final years.
