Louis Marcel Cornelius Feryn of Greenwood Court in Stratford, passed away at the Stratford General Hospital on Thursday, December 3, 2015 at the age of 88. Louis was born in Pervijze, Belgium on August 25, 1927, son of the late Modest Feryn and Maria Jacob. Beloved husband of Monique Feryn (nee DeBrabandere) for 61 years. Loved father of Elisabeth Feryn (Stewart) of New Hamburg, Patrick Feryn (Jane) of Stratford, Susan Feryn-Perkin (Kim) of Belwood, Michael Feryn (Jacinta) of Ireland, and Caroline Anstett (Ron) of Ottawa. Grandfather of Graeme and Caitlin Smith, Seana and Tessa Feryn, Andrew and Carlene Perkin, Thomas and Luke Anstett. Brother, brother-in-law and uncle of Jeanne Feryn, Robert Feryn (Magdalena) and family, Joseph Feryn (Agnes) and family, Marcel (Christiane) and family, Gerard Feryn (Germaine) and family, and Maurice (Cecile) and family. Also, Mariette Delesie (Joseph) and family, John DeBrabandere (Agnes) and family, Jules DeBrabandere (Margaret) and family, Jacqueline Van Houtte (Jules) and family, Mary DeBrabandere, Rosanne Laperre (Raphael) and family. Louis emigrated from Belgium to Canada in 1951 seeking opportunity to pursue his dream of farming. He successfully farmed in Oxford and Perth Counties for 36 years. Louis was a devoted member of St. Joseph’s Church and choir, a long standing member of the Knights of Columbus, past-president of The Benelux Club as well as the St. Joseph’s Five-pin bowling league and the Stratford Lawn Bowling Club. His favorite sports and pastimes were curling, lawn bowling, golfing and playing cards. He enjoyed spending time with his family, friends, and socializing with members of the community. Louis’ family would like to thank Dr. Brooks, Dr. Narayan, Dr. Maruscak, and nursing staff at Stratford General Hospital and from CCAC. Friends and relatives may call at the W.G. Young Funeral Home, 430 Huron St., Stratford, on Sunday, December 6, 2015 from 2-5 p.m. with Knights of Columbus Prayers at 1:45 p.m. The Funeral Mass will be held at St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church, 96 Huron St., Stratford, on Monday at 11 a.m. Rev. Seejo John will officiate. Interment in Avondale Cemetery followed by a reception in the Parish Hall.
