G. Norman Rousseau, age 88, passed away peacefully on Monday, December 21, 2015 at his residence surrounded by the love of his Family. Born in Cornwall, Ontario, son of the late George and Reina Rousseau. Predeceased by his wife June Mabel (Clelland) Rousseau on June 20, 1990. Survived by his children, Denise (Mark) Mayer, Cheryl (Rick) Taylor and George (Darya) Rousseau. Proud grandfather to Rene and Amanda Taylor; LynnDee Stowell; and Robert, Ricky, George Jr., Koda-Jo and Kyle Rousseau. Great grandfather to Charlotte and Hunter Rousseau; Kaleb, William, Jack and Lillian Stowell; Jodeci, Dayton and Samantha Rousseau; and Breanna, Haleigh and Tristan Rousseau. Norm is survived by his sister Therese Rousseau of Stratford. Norm began his working life at the CNR shops in Stratford, then moved to Westinghouse in Stratford as a machinist supervisor. From there he worked for GM Diesel in London, before returning to Stratford to work for Cooper Bessemer as a machine operator and was Union President. Once Cooper closed, Norm worked for Fischer Bearing until he retired at age 66. Norm was a very proud member of the Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church; a 50-year member of the Stratford Royal Canadian Legion Branch 8; and longtime member of the Army, Navy, Air Force Unit 261 (Stratford) and the Stratford Armouries, where he tended bar for many years. Norm was also a longtime member of the Stratford Municipal Golf Course. Besides his parents and his wife, Norm was predeceased by a son Norm Jr. (2005); brothers Theodore (Infancy 1923), Raymond (2007); sisters Louise (1996) and Lucille (2003); along with a brother-in-law Max Attinger (1981) and sister-in-law Olga Rousseau (2006). Young Funeral Home on Monday, December 28, 2015 from 6-9 p.m. (Parish Prayers at 6:15 p.m., ANAF Service and Legion Service at 6:30 p.m.) The funeral mass will take place on Tuesday, December 29 at 11:00 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church, 50 Well Street, Stratford. Interment to follow in Avondale Cemetery.
