Lynda Quinn (nee Gettler) – With heavy hearts we announce the passing of Lynda Jean Quinn on July 10, 2016. Lynda was born April 2nd, 1946 in Woodstock, Ontario to R. Lloyd Gettler and Esther Gettler (Ische). She was a lifelong resident of Stratford and is survived by her husband Richard J. Quinn, children Rhonda Kearney and Katie Pickering (James), stepchildren Matthew Quinn and Melissa Quinn, grandchildren Kyle Pickering, Ryan Quinn, and Samuel Pickering, her loving mother Esther Gettler (Ische), siblings Larry Gettler (Ann), Judy Robinson (Bob), Cathy Gettler-Jones (Don), many aunts and uncles, nieces and nephews, Quinn in-laws and her beloved friends Gaye, Ginny and The 60s Chicks. Lynda was predeceased by her father R. Lloyd Gettler and in-laws Edward and Letty Quinn. Lynda worked as a bookkeeper at Gettler Electric, Yundt Brothers Construction and for the Dominion House Tavern. She had a passion for genealogy and devoted 35+ years to researching, organizing and compiling her family history and was a dedicated volunteer at the Stratford Archives. Lynda is remembered as the organizer of performances, adventures, practical jokes, hijinks and jukebox parties. She was known for her well-developed sense of humour and her love of friends and family. She was a devoted grandmother, an avid reader, talented crocheter, prolific canner and wonderful cook. Lynda was a part-time summer resident of Port Albert for 33 years and is remembered fondly by her Port Albert family. She loved life. Special thanks to the Cancer Society, the 3rd floor E. nursing team of Stratford General Hospital and the thoughtful staff of the W.G. Young Funeral Home. Friends and relatives will be welcomed at the W.G. Young Funeral Home, 430 Huron Street, Stratford for visitation on Wednesday, July 13, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral service will be held on Thursday at 11 a.m. with a reception to follow. Private family interment to be held at Avondale Cemetery, Stratford. As expressions of sympathy, memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or to the Rotary Club of Stratford Stratford/Perth Hospice Project through W.G.
