Dr. John G. Dunfield passed away in the company of his loving family at the age of 91 on Thursday, September 15, 2016. John is survived by his wife Eleanor (Diehl), and their daughters, Susan, Caryn (Steve) and Aymey (Rob). He was very proud of his five precious grandchildren; Abby, Michael, Claire, Hanaah and Jaqke. John was born in Toronto to Gordon Dunfield and Mildred (McBride) and was pre-deceased by his siblings, Ross, Ilma, June and Peter. John spent the summers, as a youth, on Wards Island at their family cottage. He loved to share stories of his summer jobs as we travelled to the Toronto Islands on the Sam McBride ferry, which was named after his grandfather, the Mayor of Toronto. John was accomplished in many areas. He was a graduate of the Class of 1949, the first graduating class of Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College in Toronto. John was a Doctor of Chiropractic in Listowel for over 50 years before retiring to Stratford. He was equally as passionate about his organic garden at the cottage on the Bruce Peninsula and spent many nights watching the beautiful sunsets on Berford Lake with a rum and coke in hand. This was a favourite location for many years where you would hear roars of laughter coming from friends and family. From a young age John loved to explore new places and spent much of his free time travelling throughout North America and Europe. He had a great love of classical music, theatre, philosophy, nature, adventure and most of all laughter. John lived a full life, full-filled all of his desires and dreams and passed on a wealth of knowledge to all who knew him. The family would like to thank the wonderful staff at Spruce Lodge for their support and care. To honour Johns wishes there will be no visitation or funeral service. Donations may be made to the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College.
