Duije Dick Miedema, age 83, of Brampton, formerly of Stratford passed away peacefully at Holland Christian Homes on Tuesday, October 11, 2016. Born in Holland, son of the late Peter and Sipke (Seldenthuis) Miedema. Survived by his true love and best friend Shirley (Van der Kooi) Miedema of 60 yrs. Dick and Shirley farmed for many years in the Listowel area, retiring to Stratford, before moving to Brampton. Proud and loving father of Betty Witteveen and husband Bruce, Sally Dilkes and husband Brad, Margaret Wulff and husband Don, Carolin Cnossen and husband Gord and Kelly Bolding and husband Jack. Grandfather of Alana, Lydia, Ian, Colette, Camille, Rebecca, Graham, Michael, David, Timothy, Jonathon, Matthew, Hannah, Justin, Kirsten, Tia, Lucas and great-grandfather of Noemie, Jason and Jacob. Dick is survived by his five sisters and two brothers and their families in the Netherlands. He will be fondly remembered by the Van der Kooi family. Besides his parents, Dick was predeceased by two brothers. Family and friends are invited to the funeral service to be held on Friday, October 14, 2016 at 1:00 p.m., with visitation one hour prior to the service, at Bethel Free Reformed Church (Mitchell) Hwy #23 south of Mitchell. Pastor Joel Overduin will officiate. Interment to follow in Bethel Munro Cemetery.
