Gordon John Morrice (January 2, 1934 to November 26, 2016) Gord was the son of the late Violet (ne Green) and George Morrice. Beloved husband of Lorene (ne Steinacker), with whom he celebrated sixty years of marriage on June 30, 2016. Father and cherished friend of Sharon and son-in-law Daniel Paul. A lifelong resident of Stratford, he was employed for many years as an upholsterer with Kroehler Manufacturing Company. In retirement, his day would usually begin with a coffee with friends at Timmys, followed by a walk around the river or an epic stroll throughout the city. He liked a smooth shave, a clean driveway, well-barbered hair, polished shoes and a freshly-trimmed lawn. A loyal Tigers and Red Wings fan, he enjoyed watching games with son-in-law, Dan, while sharing a couple of OVs. He loved spending time on his front porch in summer, listening to ball games and chatting with friends and neighbours. He had a quick wit, good sense of humour, and a kind, generous nature, never failing to offer a cold beverage or lend a hand when needed. Gordy was a favourite of neighbourhood children, who enjoyed his warm smile and bottomless candy dish. Predeceased by brothers Donald Moe and Robert Bob (Betty) Morrice. Survived by sister-in-law Violet Morrice, niece Maryanne Morrice (David Hirschorn), great-niece Jessica Hirschorn (Khasha Ighanian), great-nephew Alex Hirschorn (Jessica), and great-great-nephew Cameron Ighanian. Predeceased by father and mother-in-law Milton and Dora Steinacker (ne Schneider), brother-in-law Eric Steinacker, and foster-brother-in-law Arthur Connor. Survived by sisters-in-law Nora Martin (Emerson), Thelma Smith (Ernie), Hazel Hislop (Joseph), Ruth McMahon (Mike), and Jody Connor.
