Ross Bowland, age 93, of Stratford, passed away peacefully on Monday, January 23, 2017 surrounded by his loving family at Greenwood Court. Born in Hamilton, Ontario, son of the late Alfred and Lillian (Bedford) Bowland. Predeceased by his loving wife of 69 years, Doris (Palmer) Bowland on Tuesday, May 19, 2015. Loving father of Marnie (David) Cheyne, Mark Bowland and Kelly (Jeff) Poickuk. Proud grandfather to Michaela, Rory, Devon, Robyn, llia, Lee and great-grandfather to Sadie, Remy, Sebastian (Baz), Sammy, Sawyer and Emma. Ross is survived by a sister-in-law Grace Truman. Ross retired as General Manager in 1989 after 34 years with Stratford PUC; he served on Ontario Water Works Association and Upper Thames River Conservation Authority. He was an active member with K40; he enjoyed the YMCA and coffee with the guys at Fosters Inn. In his retirement, Ross and Doris enjoyed travelling, but most of all they enjoyed time spent with their family at the cottage on Cranberry Island in Oliphant, Ontario. Besides his parents and wife Doris, Ross was predeceased by brother Albert and his wife Ruth Bowland and the remainder of Doriss siblings and their spouses.
