John Adrianus Van Gaal, age 77, passed away peacefully at home on March 4, 2017. Beloved husband of Elizabeth (Van Moorsel) who predeceased him March 19, 2015. Loving father of Brenda Vanderham, Lynda Poredos (Rick), Mark Van Gaal (Christine). Grandfather of Matthew and Michael Vanderham, Richard, Jarrin and Erika Poredos. Dear brother of Jack Van Gaal (Mary), Annie Van Lieshout, Gerry Van Gaal (Betty), Wilma Ver Voort (Guy), Grad Van Gaal (Annie), Jean Van den Hengel, Mary Van Geel, Irma Sleegers (Bill). Also survived by brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Nelda Dwyer, Helen Wardle, Al Van Moorsel (Ricky), Harry Van Moorsel (Helen), Arnold Van Moorsel (Josie), Rita DeWys (John), John Van Moorsel (Ricky), Toni Van Bommel (Harry), Bill Van Moorsel (Tina), cousins Anne and Arnold Van de Ven, dear friend Fred Illman and many nieces, nephews and their families. Predeceased by his parents Herman and Martina Van Gaal and by his step father Henry Megens. John and Liz owned and operated Stratford Garden Centre for 35 years. He was a member of St. Josephs Roman Catholic Church, Stratford. Friends and relatives may call at the W.G. Young Funeral Home, 430 Huron Street, Stratford on Monday, March 6, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Parish Prayers at 1:45 p.m. The funeral Mass will be celebrated at Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church, 50 Well Street, Stratford on Tuesday at 11 a.m. Fr. Dick Bester – celebrant. A reception will be held at the Kinkora Community Hall following the interment at St. Patrick’s Cemetery.
