Lyle Irvin Kipfer, age 77, of Stratford, passed away peacefully surrounded by family at his side at the Stratford General Hospital on Wednesday, May 3, 2017. Beloved husband of 56 years to Helen Kipfer (nee Smith). Loving father of Wendy Haldane, Kim (Dana) Maxwell, Michele Bailey and Kevin (Lesley) Kipfer. Grandpa to Caitlin (Justin) Wright, Jared (Victoria) Haldane, Jazz (Chris) Walmsley, Jesse (Dora) Bailey, Dylan (Carly) Bailey, Brent Kipfer (Franny Aitcheson), Tia Kipfer (Jordan Visser), Jason Kipfer (Nicole McIntosh), Alie, Jade and Hailey Maxwell (Ethan Smith). Great Grandpa to Vaughn Wright, Neve, Ava and Clay Walmsley and Emilia Haldane. Also survived by brothers and sisters Elmina Scheerer, Annis Innes, Burnell (Donna) Kipfer, Fern Durand, Gary (Linda) Kipfer and Dale (Linda) Kipfer, brother-in-law and sisters-in-law Paul Schlemmer, Rosalie Edwards, Kathleen (Pete) Trachsel, Shirley Smith, David Smith and many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents Lloyd and Laura (nee Steckley) Kipfer, his sister Shirley and a brother-in-law Anson Eghoetz, his brother Keith Kipfer and brothers-in-law George Scheerer, Alex Innes, Tony Durand, Bruce Edwards, Wayne Smith and sister-in-law Marilyn Schlemmer. Lyle retired from Stackpole in 2003 to enjoy his favourite hobbies, travelling in his motorhome, fishing and watching his grandchildrens sporting events. A celebration of Lyles life will take place in the Reception Centre of the W.G. Young Funeral Home, 430 Huron Street, Stratford, on Saturday, May 6, from 1 5 p.m. As an expression of sympathy, memorial donations may be made to the London Health Sciences Centre through the funeral home. 519.271.7411
