HELEN READ WAKE (September 15, 1927 – June 26, 2017)Stratford native Helen Wake (nee Macdonald), passed away peacefully in Owen Sound Hospital on Monday, June 26, 2017. Helen was pre-deceased by her loving husband Bud Wake in 2012 they celebrated 60 years of marriage and lived in Stratford, Orangeville, Shelburne, and Tillsonburg. Mother to Christine Wake of St. Thomas, Kato Wake of Cherry Valley, Harland Wake of Southampton, and adopted son Thanh Voung of Waterloo. Dear mother-in-law to Billy Munnelly, Michele Wake and Anh Voung. Pre-deceased by sister Betty Keats, and brother Hugh Macdonald. Sister to Marion Hogan and Eleanor Forsyth.Helen adored her grandchildren: Dylan Wake and wife Kristen, Preston Wake and wife Olga, Simon Wake, and Kim, David and Emily Voung. A proud great grandmother, she delighted in knowing Austin, Verity and Gordon Wake. Helen worked many years in the box office at the Stratford Shakespearean Theatre. Feisty and competitive in nature, she was an avid lawn bowler who excelled playing tournaments in Ontario and Florida. Her logical mind for numbers made her a keen bridge player right to the very end of her life, and she could remember hands from decades ago!A private ceremony will be held later this summer to celebrate her life.
