Kathleen (Kay) Wadsworth, in her 104th year, passed away peacefully at Ritz Villa in Mitchell with her daughters by her side, on July 26, 2017. Born in Welland, moved to Montreal and then back to St Catharines and Niagara Falls. Predeceased by her loving husband of 65 years Albert Wadsworth. Loving mother of Dorothy Mersel (deceased) (Peter), Beverley Young (Jim), and Karen Gruszczynski (Mike). Proud grandmother of Deb (Joe), Glenn (Alice), Kevin (Diane), Wayne (deceased), Bob (deceased), Melanie (Rob), Ian (Arlen), Adam, and 12 great-grandchildren, and 5 great-great-grandchildren. Survived by her brother Dan Osborne (Betty) and several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by 7 other brothers and sisters.
Kay was an avid gardener and loved flowers. She enjoyed doing many crafts, in particular embroidery and bead work. She knitted and crocheted many baby outfits and blankets. She was an excellent seamstress making clothes for herself and her girls, including wedding and bridesmaid dresses. She was a good cook and hosted many family gatherings. She was a long-time member of the Anglican Church, and also the Rebekah Lodge.
Family and friends may call at the W.G. Young Funeral home, 430 Huron St., Stratford, on Saturday August 26 between 1:30 and 2:30 p.m., followed by a memorial service at 2:30 p.m., and then afternoon tea.
