With great sadness, we announce the passing of Shirley Mae Schneider, age 73, at LHSC Victoria Campus surrounded by her loving family on September 12, 2017. Devoted, loving wife and best friend of 53 years of Ken Schneider. Loving mother of Darin and wife Patti, Mark, Rod and wife Jackie. Proud Grandma of Mathieu, Mikayla, Kate and Luke. Shirley will be dearly missed by sisters-in-law Ruth Ebel, Janet Schneider, Kathy Schneider, Gloria Schneider and Shirley Bracegirdle, her cousins Jack Hoffmeyer and Carol Hoffmeyer as well as many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her parents Harvey and Gladys (Dungey) Hoffmeyer, a brother Ronald and wife Lynda, father and mother-in-law Floyd and Florence Schneider and brothers-in-law John, Walt and Donnie Schneider. Shirley grew up in Seabach Hill and attended Carlingford Public School. She married Ken on May 16, 1964, and together they purchased Turner Plumbing in 1977. In 1990, Bluewater Beach Road, Goderich, became their 2nd home where they formed many loving friendships. Starting in 2010, they enjoyed many winters in the Port Charlotte area and gained many new friends. Shirley was an avid Badminton and Pickleball player and embraced and welcomed everyone she met. Again, she will be sadly missed by all who knew her. Friends and family are invited to the W.G. Young Funeral Home, 430 Huron Street, Stratford on Saturday, September 16 from 7-9 p.m. and on Sunday, September 17 from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. The funeral service will be held on Monday, September 18 at 11 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church, 202 Erie Street, Stratford followed by the interment at Avondale Cemetery. Reception will be held at the Stratford Country Club, 53 Romeo Street N., following the interment.
