Ron McKenzie, born September 14, 1957, in Woodstock, Ontario died suddenly October 18, 2017. Rons formative years were spent in Embro, Ontario. His small town roots were always important to him. He fondly recounted his first job was at the furniture store/funeral home where he never knew if his job would entail delivering a couch or helping to pick out a casket. Ron adored sports and especially loved playing baseball. His favourite hockey team was the Boston Bruins. Despite the challenges of being a Bruins fan in Leafs territory, Ron persevered, in part because his cousin Johnny played for Boston, and partly to distinguish himself from the crowd. After his graduation from Sir Sanford Fleming College, Ron moved to Toronto to work for National Trust. It was while working there that Ron met the love of his life, Lynda Hunter. Ron and Lynda were married in 1993 and their daughter Emma was born six years later. Ron always knew what he liked and he liked his family more than anything else. Ron, Lynda and Emma enjoyed spending time together with friends and family, laughing, telling stories and enjoying the community. Ron will be missed by Lynda, Emma, father-in-law, Doug Hunter, brothers-in-law Mark Hunter (Denise Whitehead) and Steven Hunter (Debra), as well as nephews Adam, Andrew (Gwen), and Matthew, and nieces Laura and Sarah and a list of friends too large to count. Visitation at the W.G. Young Funeral Home, 430 Huron Street, Stratford on Saturday, October 21, from 2 p.m. until the time of the funeral service at 3 p.m. with a reception to follow.
