Schaerer (Muenzker), Annelies
Annelies passed away peacefully on Monday, December 18, 2017, at age 86 after coping for many years with severe pain from various ailments. Annelies was born and raised in Vienna, Austria. She came to Canada in 1953 after graduating from nursing school in Vienna. She loved her work as a Registered Nurse in Kitchener, London and Stratford until her retirement in 1990. Annelies lived at Woodland Towers, Hamlet Estates and previously Britannia St., Stratford. She loved to travel and visited over 50 countries until poor health prevented her from continuing her travels. Annelies volunteered for many years for Children’s Aid Society and Telecare and was active with Probus. The ‘German ladies’ were an important part of her social life.  Annelies loved and shared her life with her children Claudia Schaerer (Fernand Daigle), Peter Schaerer (Penny), Doris Barkley (Cliff), Heinz Schaerer (Andrea) and Ernie Schaerer (Mary). Proud Oma of Jennifer (Wade), Carolyn (Steve), Nicola (Kyle), Curtis (Sadie), Christopher, Alexandra, Michelle (Ken) and Ryan.  Annelies was predeceased by her parents Dr. Karl and Herta Muenzker of Austria and brother Gernot of South Africa. She is survived by siblings Rosmarie, Michl and Klaus of Austria.  Visitation at Griffith Auditorium at Woodland Towers, 639 West Gore St. Stratford on Friday, December 22 from 10 a.m. until the time of the memorial service at 11 a.m. Rev. Keith Reynolds will officiate. Internment at God’s Holy Acre, St. James Anglican Church at a later date. As expressions of sympathy, memorial donations may be made to S.O.S. Children’s Village Canada or Sleeping Children Around The World through the W.G. Young Funeral Home, 430 Huron St. Stratford.  519.271.7411
