Ethel Mildred Elder, age 103, of Stratford, passed away peacefully at Cedarcroft Place (Stratford) on Wednesday, December 27, 2017. Born in Elma Township, daughter of the late Alex and Lillian (Young) Broughton. Predeceased by her husband Thomas James Elder (1980). Much loved mother of Donald, Florence Henry, Jim (Juanita Sauve), Robert (Donna Cleaveley), Georgina (Doug Winton), John (Lauree), Liz Exley along with 15 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren. Mildred is survived by siblings Lottie Hincks, Helen Henry, Georgina (Bob) Hennick and brother-in-law Ivan Hinz. Besides her parents and husband, Mildred was predeceased by a son Edward (1996), sons-in-law Stan Henry, Tom Exley and brother Bill (Florence) Broughton and sisters Mae Coxon, Pearl (Rudy) Youngblut, Marion Hinz, Alice (Bill) Baillie and Shirley (Elmer) Hinz along with brothers-in-law Roy Hincks, Maurice Coxon and Lorne Henry. Friends and family are invited to a memorial service on Saturday, January 27, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at the W.G. Young Funeral Home, 430 Huron Street, Stratford. Interment to follow in Avondale Cemetery. As expressions of sympathy, memorial donations may be made to Stratford-Perth Hospice Project or Stratford General Hospital Foundation through the funeral home. 519.271.7411.
