The family of Shirley Amelia Jean Woodcock sadly announce her peaceful passing on February 10, 2018 at Ritz Lutheran Villa, Mitchell.  Born March 25, 1926 in Stratford, the only child of Elizabeth (2008) and Floyd Sutherland (1978).  Shirley lived in Stratford and later Sebringville. She was very proud of her children Lorrie (Maggie); Brad (Susan); Pamela (Bernard) Benoit, her grandchildren Kimberley Woodcock (Lee) and Kyla Woodcock (Paul); Drew Woodcock; Thomas, Lauren, Glenn, Michael and Elizabeth Benoit; and great-grandchildren Charlotte and Alexandra.  Shirley was the beloved wife of Robert Woodcock, who predeceased her in 2004 and she was predeceased by grandson Dean Woodcock in 1993.  Shirley treasured the times she spent with friends playing Bridge, the “Lunch Bunch” and being a member of Kiwins.  She embraced her work family who were a tremendous part of her life, until recent years when she decided it was maybe time to retire.  She will forever be remembered as being young at heart, interested in people, the news, fashion, music and was blessed with a wonderful sense of humour.   We are thankful to the staff of Greenwood Court and the Ritz Lutheran Villa for all the support and kindness shown to Shirley and her family.  Friends and relatives may call at the W.G. Young Funeral Home, 430 Huron Street, Stratford on Saturday, February 24th, from 10 a.m. until the time of the memorial service at 11 a.m., with a reception to follow.  Pastor John Patterson to officiate.  Cremation has taken place with interment at Avondale Cemetery at a later date.  In lieu of flowers and as expressions of sympathy, memorial donations may be made to The Sunshine Foundation, Stratford Perth Humane Society or the charity of one’s choice through the funeral home.  519.271.7411
