Shirley Leah Irwin, age 85, of Stratford, passed away peacefully at the Stratford General Hospital on March 22, 2018. Born in East York, August 12, 1932, daughter of the late Lilian (Brown) and David Low. Beloved wife of the late William Irwin who predeceased her in 1995. Loving mother of Karen Richardson (Robin), Scott Irwin (Lori), Jo-Anne Fulkerson (Steve) and Nancy Ranney. Grandmother of Caitlin (Bearach), Amy (Silas), Megan (Ryan), Carolyn, Alison, Taryn, Emily, Alex and Julia. Great-grandmother of Edward. Predeceased by brothers Bill and Stan Low.

Shirley was a proud “Bell” girl (telephone operator) and enjoyed working with people at Perth Motors and the Stratford Festival. She was fond of her northern life in New Liskeard and Twin Lakes, where she made wonderful memories and lifelong friends. She loved her golf game and was thrilled to get the golf channel. She was an avid curling fan and delighted in watching hours of TV coverage of curling at all levels. She loved to read, do her crosswords and was a great knitter, lending her skill to various organizations. She and her husband Bill supported the Stratford Cullitons hockey for years, where she was seen regularly selling 50-50 tickets. Shirley enjoyed her casino trips, bridge time and outings with her friends. She was so proud of all her children, grandchildren and thrilled to meet her great-grandson. Family wasn’t just important, it was everything! She will be greatly missed by all.
