Howard Norbert Nichol, age 95, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 3, 2018 at the Stratford General Hospital. Born in Gadshill, June 9, 1923, son of the late William and Ada (Hooper) Nichol. Predeceased by his loving wife Vivian (Johnston) Nichol of 68 yrs. in 2012 and a son William Nichol. Loving father of Shirley (Oscar) Maschke, Robert (Cheryl) Nichol, Nancy (Gary) Gibson and daughter-in-law Lois Nichol. Grandfather of Juanita, Trevor, Cory, Matthew, Ian, Seth Natalie; great-grandfather of Jared, Lydia, Oscar, Caitlyn and Laurel. Howard served in the Royal Canadian Air Force Signal Section from Oct 1942-Dec 1944 in North Sydney, Dartmouth, Nova Scotia and Summerside, Prince Edward Island. He was employed with the C.N.R and City of Stratford until his retirement. He was a member of First St. John’s Lutheran Church (Seebach’s Hill). Howard will be remembered by his siblings John Nichol, Ada (Gordon) Blanchard along with nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, wife and son, Howard was predeceased by a great-granddaughter Carly Maschke, brothers Carl (Isobel) Nichol, Melvin (Helen) Nichol, sisters Lynna (Rumaldo) Nunez, Betty (Jay) De Forrest and sister-in-law Marge Nichol. Family and friends may call at the W.G. Young Funeral Home, 430 Huron Street, Stratford on Friday, July 6, 2018 from 6-9 p.m. The funeral service will be held on Saturday, July 7 at 12:00 noon at the funeral home. Rev. Will Kramer will officiate with Interment in Avondale Cemetery following the service.
