Djerdj “George” Kasler, age 81, of Stratford, passed away peacefully on Monday, January 21, 2019 at LHSC-University Campus. His kind spirit and sense of humour will continue to remain in our hearts. Born in Vojlovica, Yugoslavia son of the late George and Rozalija Kurko. George served in the Yugoslavian Army from 1955 until 1957. He immigrated to Canada in 1972 with his wife and two children where he would continue to honour his homeland and his family’s Hungarian ancestry. George specialized in welding, carpentry and millwright before joining the workforce at Schaeffler Fischer Bearings in Stratford, where he would later retire. During his years of employment, he joined the Men’s Stratford City Soccer League and was a strong team member until the age of 62. In retirement he became active at the YMCA where he would enjoy swimming and using the weight machines. George regularly attended Knox Presbyterian Church. He loved family gatherings, especially ones that involved a backyard pig roast where he would take great pleasure in serving his homemade wine. George is survived by his true love Ann (Nagy) Kasler of 60 years. Her home cooking held a special place in his heart and belly.
