Dr. Christopher Ian Arciszewski, age 70, of Stratford passed away peacefully in his sleep at the Stratford General Hospital on Tuesday April 30, 2019 after a courageous battle against pancreatic cancer.  Born in London, England, he was predeceased by his dear parents Stanislaw and Wanda and stepmother Ludmilla. Beloved father to Jonathan (Lisa), Janice, Laura (Chris Lichtenheldt) and Tim and cherished grandfather to Coulter, Jack, Vaughn, Hadley and Carly. Stepbrother to Anita (Trevor) Johnson and uncle to Victoria and Alex. Friend to David & Maureen Williams and several others. Thank you to Cathy McCarroll for her friendship, kindness and support during his final days.  Chris will be missed by many. Dr. Arciszewski was a respected Orthopaedic Surgeon. He received his Bachelor’s of Medicine and Surgery at the University of London, St. Thomas Hospital Medical School in 1972. He practiced as a General Surgeon in Newfoundland after immigrating to Canada in 1978 and completed his fellowship in Orthopaedic Surgery in 1982.  Chris was proud to call Stratford home and improved the lives of many, not only during his years of practice but also in his retirement, through his various volunteer efforts within and outside of the community. On behalf of his children, they would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the fantastic and compassionate medical staff at the Stratford General Hospital during his final days.  A special thank you to primary care physicians Dr. Erin Glass and Dr. Jeff Hepburn, and nurses Cheryl, Sharon, Bethany and Kristin.  Chris’s children would also like to offer special thanks to their mother Vivien for her love and ongoing support. As a tribute to their father for the great man he was, and to honour his memory within his community, a Celebration of Dr. Chris’ Life will be held in the Reception Centre of the W.G. Young Funeral Home, 430 Huron Street, Stratford on Sunday June 2, 2019 from 1 – 5 p.m.   In lieu of flowers, the family honours their father’s memory and have asked that any memorial donations be made to the Pancreatic Cancer Canada Foundation, The Humane Society or Habitat for Humanity through the funeral home.  519.271.7411. www.wgyoungfuneralhome.com
