John “Jack” Keith Brodhagen, age 81, of Stratford, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 14, 2019 surrounded by his loving family at Stratford General Hospital. Born in Downie Township, son of the late Edward and Mary (Harburn) Brodhagen. Survived by his true love and best friend; Lorene “Tootie” (Baumbach) Brodhagen of 56 years. Jack was employed at the City of Stratford until he retired, and he thoroughly enjoyed getting a good bargain at garage sales and auctions. Proud father of Patty (Murray) Lichti, Michael (Kelly) Brodhagen, Tanya (Ken) Boersen and Connie (David) Yensen.  Loving grandfather of Dan Illes (Frances Sarmiento), Chantel Illes, James Brodhagen, Nichelle Brodhagen, Catie (Pete) Treloar, Emma Lichti, Jarrett Boersen and Jocelyn Boersen. Jack will be remembered by his sister Donna Brodhagen and sisters-in-law Joan Brodhagen and Audrey Pitts and brothers-in-law Bill Knott and Laverne Ackersviller and many nieces, nephews and their families. Besides his parents and his mother and father-in-law Roy and Pearl Baumbach, Jack was predeceased by brothers and sisters; Myrtle Steckly, Judy Jepson, Bernard Brodhagen, Lloyd Brodhagen, Lorne Brodhagen, Linda Massey, Betty Knott and his brothers and sisters-in-law Donald Pitts, Allan Steckly, Tom Jepson, Margaret Brodhagen and Sharon Ackersviller. Friends and family may call at the W.G. Young Funeral Home, 430 Huron Street, on Sunday, May 19, 2019 from 2 – 6 p.m. and on Monday, May 20, 2019 from 10:00 a.m., until the time of the funeral service at 11:00 a.m. Reception to follow. A private family interment will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers and as expressions of sympathy, memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or Muscular Dystrophy Canada through the funeral home. 519.271.7411
