Shirley Anne (Hunter) Parr of Stratford passed away at Greenwood Court on Tuesday, December 10, 2019.   Born in Stratford in 1937, she was the daughter of the late Jack and Janet (Haines) Hunter.  Loving wife for 61 years of Sylvio Parr, who predeceased her in 2017.  Dear mother of Vicki Cook, Len and his wife Pauline, Dan and his wife Dianne, and Murray and his wife Joanne.  Loving grandmother of Jacqueline Parr, Carolyn Parr, Michael Cook (Rebecca), Jennifer Wilhelm (Perry), Mark Cook (Amanda), Nick Parr (Leslie), Jamie Parr (Lindsay), Andrew Parr (Jolene), Danielle Listman (Andrew), Kevin Parr, Eric Parr, and Geoffrey Parr.  Also survived by fourteen great-grandchildren and by sister Ilene Graham of Thamesville, brother-in-law Jim Nichol of Waterloo, brother-in-law Fred Scott of Sebringville, as well as several nieces and nephews.  Besides her husband and parents, she was  predeceased by her son Jack, daughter-in-law Sharon,  her parents-in-law Kathleen (McGrory) and Harry Nichol, sister and brother-in-law Florence and Murray McKay, sister Joyce Scott, sister and brother-in-law Jean and Ken Thompson, brother-in-law Ray Graham, sister-in-law and brother-in-law Dawn and Joe Anderson, brother-in-law Grant Parr, sister-in-law Diane Nichol, and sister-in-law Anita Colley of Stratford.  Shirley was an employee of Towers and Zellers Department Store in Stratford, and enjoyed music and playing cards with her friends.  She loved spending time visiting and caring for her family.  Friends and relatives may call at the W.G. Young Funeral Home, 430 Huron Street in Stratford on Friday, December 13, 2019 from 5:00-8:00 p.m.  Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church, 96 Huron Street, Stratford on Saturday, December 14, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. Reception will take place following the Mass at the W. G. Young Funeral Home Reception Centre. As expressions of sympathy, memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer Society or to a charity of one’s choice through the funeral home. 519.271.7411
