Colin Fletcher ANDERSON, of Stratford, Ontario, Canada, passed away peacefully into the presence of his Lord and Saviour at the Mitchell Nursing Home on January 20, 2020, aged 94 years.
Colin was born on January 24, 1925 in Brentwood, Essex. At the age of 18 he enlisted in the Royal Navy, where he served as a radar operator during WWII. During the war he dedicated his life to the Lord Jesus Christ, and in 1949 he emigrated from England to Canada to attend Emmaus Bible College and help with Christian camp work at Northland Bible Camp and Galilee Bible Camp. He was commended to full-time Bible teaching ministry by Danforth Bible Chapel and Greenwood Gospel Chapel, and subsequently worked to establish and encourage numerous churches around Ontario including Markham Bible Chapel and Sudbury Bible Fellowship.
In 1960, Colin married Joan Michell at Grace Chapel in Timmins, Ontario. Colin and Joan had four children and lived in Markham, Toronto, Burlington, Sudbury, and London, Ontario before moving to Stratford in 1996. They also spent three years as missionaries in Kampala, Uganda.
Colin is survived by his sister Margaret Bylo, as well as his wife Joan, sons Peter, Stephen (Jannalee), and Mark (Lisa), daughter Rebecca (Horst) Bohner, and grandchildren Kyle, Kalel, Clark, Nick, Ethan, Simon, and Paul. He was predeceased by his brothers Norman and Dennis.
A private family burial will be held at the Avondale Cemetery on January 25, with a public memorial service for Colin’s friends and extended family at the Stratford Christian Reformed Church, 190 Athlone Crescent, on Monday, February 3rd at 1 pm. There will be no formal visitation, but Joan and the family are happy to receive condolence calls and letters, and welcome all who wish to visit them at home.
