Cesare Paola, age 69, of Stratford passed away peacefully at Stratford General Hospital on Thursday, June 11, 2020. Born in Scigliano, Cosenza, Italy, son of the late Antonio and Angelina Paola. Loving father of Jody Paola (Pamela Ellison) and Briana Truong (Will). Dear brother of Lina Sicilia (Antonio), Carmine Paola (Marlene), Robert Paola (Marisa), Michael Paola (Nan) and Susanna Paola. Proud grandfather of Tyson Paola and Amelia, Kai and Fiona Truong.
If you were ever trying to find Cesare during the non-winter months, the answer was usually “gone fishing.” He came back empty-handed more often than not, but it was hard not to smile or laugh when he shared his stories about the time spent with his brothers and friends. Those were some of the days that he enjoyed the most. Cesare loved to laugh and pull pranks and we will miss his contagious smile and humour.
Lovingly called “Papa” by his four grandchildren, Cesare would cook his famous spaghetti and meatballs for them whenever they visited. He would often join in their antics as they went on monster hunts together and swam in his backyard pool. He loved to cheer Tyson on at the baseball diamond, listen to Amelia play her violin, and cuddle and tickle Kai and Fiona. “Papa” will surely be missed but we will carry on his memory so that he is never forgotten.
Cesare lived an active life. He had the opportunity to experience some great travel around the world. He was a tech wizard to his family and friends, constantly fixing up and working with computers. Over the years, he owned various local businesses in Stratford: Pepi’s Pizza, a Ken’s French Fries truck, and Talwood Computers. When he retired, he kept busy making and delivering pizzas for Pizza Pizza.
A visitation will be held on Sunday, June 14 from 11:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. and on Monday from 10:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the W.G. Young Funeral Home, 430 Huron Street, Stratford in accordance with the current Provincial Regulations. In keeping with Cesare’s wishes, cremation will take place afterwards.
