Hemstock, Lloyd Kenneth
June 10th, 1939 – June 9th, 2020

It is with great-great sadness we have to announce the passing of Lloyd Hemstock. He passed away peacefully at St. Marys Memorial Hospital with his family by his side. Lloyd was born in Arran Township, son of the late Worland and Jean Hemstock where he trucked and farmed for his dad in his early years. He worked on the Great Lakes aboard the T. G. McGlagan of the Canada Steamship Lines which made for some pretty great stories. Lloyd drove for Boehmers Ready Mix for 38 years where he was a proud member of the Teamsters Union. He married Helen Leggett May 16th, 1959 and settled down in St. Pauls and had 3 children, their proudest accomplishments. Lloyd was such a hard-working man who supported and never stopped helping his family his whole life. After their retirement, Lloyd and Helen moved to Franklin Street in Stratford. He will be deeply and truly missed by his daughter Debra, his son Dan and his wife Brenda (Rose), his 5 grandchildren – Chace (Abbey), Brandon (Kristina), Danny (Sarah) Brett and Jake, great-grandchildren Ben, Jack and Lennon and by his dear friend Joyce Petrie. Lloyd is also survived by his sister Mary Joan Yates (Bud) of Edmonton, brother-in-law Donald Leggett (Shirley) of Port Elgin, sister-in-law Mary Jean Large (George) of Underwood and by many cousins, nephews and nieces. Predeceased by his wife Helen Hemstock (Leggett), son Ken “Tiny” Hemstock, brothers George and Jack Hemstock, sister Joyce Hammell (Art), sisters-in-law Sharon McCormick (Sandy) and Cathy Leggett. The family wish to thank the neighbors and friends who have helped Lloyd along the way. Dad spoke highly of you. Thanks also to the Doctors and staff at the Stratford General and St. Marys Memorial Hospitals with a special thanks to one porter in particular who paid special attention to Dad – he loved your visits. We all know how Dad liked to talk and tell stories of the good ‘ole days. You’ll be able to talk up a storm up there now Dad with Mom and Tiny and the rest of the family. A private graveside service will take place in St. Marys Cemetery. As expressions of sympathy, memorial donations to The Kidney Foundation, Stratford General Hospital or St. Marys Memorial Hospital may be made through the W. G. Young Funeral Home, 430 Huron Street, Stratford. 519.271.7411 www.wgyoungfuneralhome.com
