John Alexander Whaling
March 15, 1947-July 6, 2020

It is with great sadness to announce the passing of John Alexander Whaling, age 73, at Stratford General Hospital, on Monday, July 6, 2020.

Born in Stratford, son of the late James and Iva (Studeman) Whaling. He is survived by his fiancé and best friend Patti Anne Montgomery. Loving father of Roger (Chris), Wanda (Chris), John (Charlotte), Ginger and Patti’s Children Tracy and Trisha. Grandfather of six grandchildren and one great grandson and Patti’s two grandchildren. Dear brother of Irene, Ruth (Jack), Norma, Marg (Gordon), Leonard (Sandy) and uncle to nieces and nephews. Also survived by Patti’s family.

Besides his parents, John was predeceased brothers Howard, Gordon, Eugene, Jim, sister-in-law Mary, brother-in-law Ray, Ted and grandson James. John was a trooper. He fought his sickness with determination and strength. John was an awesome cook, enjoyed his cars, flowers and puzzles.

Thank you to Stratford General Hospital, Victoria Hospital and University Hospital and Dr. Kluz for the excellent care and Dr. House the Nephrologist for his compassion towards John and the nurses at Stratford Dialysis.

In keeping with John’s wishes cremation will take place with a private family interment in Avondale Cemetery. As expressions of sympathy memorial donations may be made to the Kidney Foundation, Heart and Stroke, Arthritis Society or the Canadian Cancer Society through the W. G. Young Funeral Home, 430 Huron Street, Stratford. 519.271.7411.
