Nina Jane Beatrice Phillips passed away in peace on Tuesday, July 7, 2020. She was a prolific commissioned artist here in the Stratford community, known for her joyful spirit and infectious smile.

Nina was awarded numerous Canada Council grants for her artistry in the crafts of fibre arts, macramé, sculpture and her one-of-a-kind wall hangings.  She will be remembered for her service at Gallery 96:  those years are treasured family memories.  She was a true artist in everything she did, leaving a legacy of kindness and compassion for everyone who crossed her path.  One of the greatest examples of how she lived were her beautiful flower arrangements that came with a personal delivery known as “Nina’s Midnight Flowers”.

Nina is survived by her son Leighton Soltys, niece Tanya Phillips and sister Mara Phillips.  Arrangements will be made for a garden party filled with music, love and flowers to honour Nina and will be held outdoors at her home within three weeks.  Please call Nina’s home or Leighton’s cell phone for particulars regarding Nina’s life tribute.  All are welcome to come and share their stories and celebrate her life.  Donations to the Humane Society would be appreciated and can be made through the funeral home. Mom always had enough flowers!!!
