We are deeply saddened to announce the sudden passing of Shari Diane McEwin. Shari was rushed to the hospital in the evening of Sept 13, 2020 complaining of shortness of breath and chest pain. She passed shortly after in the care of the hospital staff from natural causes. This has been an immense shock for everyone because she was in good health and spirits – had just been to a baby shower the day before for her granddaughter. She leaves behind a legacy of love and stubbornness that will never be forgotten. She is survived by her children Dave (Jess) and Tina (Joe Eggett); grandchildren Frankie and Amelia; parents Janette and Bruce; brothers and their spouses: Neil & Gabe, Mike & Janet, Duane & Val, Scott & Sandra (& Sandy Massel); her long-time friend Dave Chalmers; and a plethora of nieces and nephews.

Shari worked for many years in coffee shops as a baker (Tim Horton’s, Mega Muffins & the Donut Mill), but was most recently employed at Anne Hathaway Residence in the kitchen. Having worked in coffee shops for so long and having the brothers she grew up with, it felt like she knew everyone – and whether she wanted to admit or not, was loved by most people for her straightforwardness and open heart. She loved her family beyond measure and never hesitated to respond when they needed her.

A celebration of Shari’s life will be held on Sunday September 20, 2020 at the W.G. Young Funeral Home, 430 Huron St, Stratford. A short service will be held around 2:30 pm, but people are welcome to attend at any time between 2:00-4:00 pm. Due to COVID restrictions, only 50 people are permitted in the reception room at a time. Attendance is not limited to family – friends are welcome to come.

Shari was not a lover of flowers and I know would hate to see money wasted in this time on a symbol. Her main concern in life was caring for her grandson Frankie and making sure that his needs were met. In lieu of flowers, if you are wanting to make a contribution, any money received will be going directly to taking care of Frankie’s immediate and future needs. Donations can be made directly through the funeral home. (Please make cheques payable to Young Memorials) 519.271.7411 www.wgyoungfuneralhome.com
