Marilyn H. Koot, age 63, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 28, 2020 at the Stratford General Hospital, after a hard fought battle with cancer.
She was born in Stratford June 1, 1957 to Peter and Margaret (Haalstra) Kraal. She was married to William ‘Willy” Koot August 6, 1988 and together they had two loving sons Nathan and Josh Koot. Marilyn worked at Libro (St. Willibrord) Credit Union for 36 years. Following retirement she enjoyed working at W. G. Young Funeral Home. In her spare time she enjoyed lounging by the pool between soap operas and game nights with friends. She was a member of the St. Joseph’s bowling league. Marilyn was a beloved greeter at St. Joseph’s Church and was involved in the community by coaching her son’s soccer teams.
Marilyn is survived by her beloved husband Willy Koot, her loving sons Nathan (Taylor) Koot and Josh (Amber) Koot. Loving grandmother to Ashtyn Koot. Dear sister to Ed (Rose) Kraal and loving daughter in law to Dinah Koot. Dear sister in law to Ted (Darlene) Koot, Gerry (Anna) Koot, Marian (Steve) Van Klooster, Tony (Lynn) Koot and Andy (Amy) Koot. Also surviving are a number of nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents Peter and Margaret (Haalstra) Kraal and father in law Anthony “Tony” Koot.
Friends and family are invited to a visitation at the W. G. Young Funeral Home, 430 Huron St., Stratford on Sunday November 1 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A private family service will be held at the funeral home on Monday November 2, 2020. (Masks are mandatory as well as social distancing while on funeral home property, please respect). As expressions of sympathy, memorial donations may be made to Stratford General Hospital Foundation or St. Josephs Roman Catholic Church Restoration Fund through the funeral home.
