Affectionately known as “Boppa”, at 98 years young, peacefully on October 27, 2020. Bob had a long, rich life filled with generosity, kindness and much love. Born in Danville, Pennsylvania to Florence Anjou Bristow and Leander Fairbairn McCaul, Bob was predeceased by his 4 older siblings, Don (2017), Jean (2010), Helen (2010), Dorothy (2016), his daughter Heidi (2020) and his grandson McCaul (2019). Bob is survived by his loving wife Eileen, daughter Glee (Don Scott), son Tim (Deb), grandson Coel (Andrea), grand daughter-in-law Nikki and great grandchildren Sloane, Luka and Elowyn.

On December 28, 1946, Bob married the love of his life, Eileen, at St. John’s United Church in Stratford and created the most fabulous love story over the next 73 plus years. He was always engaged; a lifelong blood donor, choir and Glee Club member, fisherman, golfer, “Mr. Fix-it” and cat lover. Bob had a passion for jokes, singing, puns, masking tape and helping others. He could fix a radio or a television with tubes like a serviceman!

A World War ll veteran, Bob served in the Navy for 13 years. During the Second World War, Bob was a crew member on a corvette that escorted the convoys from Canada to England. He was a pioneer of sonar. After the war Bob worked at A.V. Roe and worked on the C.F. 104 Star Fighter and the Avro Arrow. He finished his career working for Canadian Westinghouse in Hamilton with stints in Ottawa and in California at Edwards Air Force Base.  In his retirement, Bob also served as a visitation pastor at numerous churches. Bob always had a song, a story or a joke at the ready.

Donations to the Alzheimer Society or to Avondale United Church in Stratford would be greatly appreciated. Bob will be buried in Burlington at a private service.

The next time you are having a coffee and a cookie, please remember that Robert Fairbairn McCaul was the original “COFFEE and COOKIE MONSTER”.  Boppa, you will be missed.

The tears in my eyes,

I can wipe away.

The ache in my heart,

Will always stay.
