Rachel (Nancy) Agnes Nemelia MacLeod of Stratford, age 94, passed away peacefully with a family member at her side on Nov 20, 2020. Born in Stratford, youngest daughter of the late Milton and Jessie Scott. Beloved wife for 68 years of Alastair (deceased Dec 22, 2017). Proud and loving mother of Jenny Harloff (Glen), Nancy Folk, Sally McCrea (John), Maryanne Schroeder (Ken), Neil MacLeod, Kirsten MacLeod (Bill Rieck). Caring grandmother to 11 grandchildren: Nancy, Ian, Scott, Christopher, Jamie, Michael, David, Molly, Neil, Emily, Quinn and seven great-grandchildren: Alastair, Noellie, Hamish, Vivian, Penelope, Benjamin and Sophie. Predeceased by her grandson Matthew, brothers Walter and Bill, sisters Jessie, Betty, Mary, and Clara. Survived by her younger brother Fred of Sebringville, sister-in-law Janet MacLeod of New Zealand and many nieces and nephews around the world.

During the war she worked at the Spar plant as a quality inspector and before having a family she worked at “the Bell” as a switchboard supervisor and had many fond memories and stories about that time. She had a strong belief in volunteering in her community and volunteered for over 45 years at the Stratford General Hospital and as a member at St. Andrews Presbyterian Church. She was a local Brownie and Cub Scout leader. There were many traveling adventures to far off countries and to anywhere a new grandchild was born.

She was the bedrock of the family and will be greatly missed and remembered for her loving, caring ways.

In keeping with her wishes there will be a private family memorial and interment at Avondale Cemetery in the spring.

As expressions of sympathy, memorial donations may be made in her honour to Stratford General Hospital or the Alzheimer Society Perth County Branch.
