On December 27, 2020, John Donald (JD) Weber sailed on to the next chapter of life. He is survived by his loving wife Brenda, his sister Dr. D.L. Iffla, (Youssef Blandi) of Kingston, and his sister-in-law Patricia May of Lindsay. Stepfather to Rebecca Hollenbach and Christopher (Becky) Doran.  Grandpa J.D. to Corbin and Julian Hollenbach and Alyssa Doran. And proud big brother to Dan Taylor, Managing Editor of CTV News.

J.D. was born in Kitchener to the late Donald, former Mayor of Kitchener, and Eileen Weber. A lifelong resident of Kitchener-Waterloo, John developed and maintained many valued friendships, including those made at Stanley Park Community Church and Westmount Golf and Country Club.

His childhood summers were spent at the family cottage in Muskoka, where he developed his love of sailing. That led him to the British Virgin Islands where he sailed with many friends on his yacht “Chipeta” as a member of Nanny Cay and the Loyal West End Yacht club of Tortola, BVI. JD also made and shared dear friendships as a member of the Port Dover Yacht Club of Ontario, where he proudly spent time restoring his beloved racing Yacht “Scorpion”.

In his early years, John attended Westmont Public School and Waterloo Collegiate. In 1975 he received his Bachelor of Economics from Wilfred Laurier University. Then pursued a successful career in Casualty and Life Insurance until his retirement from Regal Insurance Brokers in 2014.

Other passions JD had for life beyond sailing included cars, motorcycles, flying, travel, Skiing, and scuba diving.

John: My beloved, you have had a life well lived. We miss you, but you will stay in our hearts forever. Farewell and fair winds as you sail onto a better place awaiting my sunset arrival.
